Crazy Kids Guide To Cooking For Your Pet
Nominated
For National Book Award by ForeWord Magazine
The
Crazy Kids Guide To Cooking For Your Pet has received a high
honor in the national publishing world.
The cookbook has been nominated for a Book of the Year Award
by ForeWord, a magazine that showcases independently
published books. It is
one of only six finalists chosen nationwide in the Pet Book
category.
According to ForeWord,
the Book of the Year Award was established to bring the achievements
of independent publishers and their authors to the attention of
booksellers and librarians. Books
are nominated for the award on the basis that they “expand a
reader’s world, introduce a voice society needs to hear .. .
(and) entertain so compellingly that all distractions fall
away.”
“We are very
thrilled and honored to be chosen for a ForeWord Book of the
Year nomination,” said Barbara Denzer, who with Missy Denzer was
one of the book’s “translators.”
“I think the magazine’s judges were struck by the
book’s originality and the fact that it’s much more than a
cookbook. And I’m sure that (illustrator) Manny Rodriguez’s
colorful graphics and cover art played a role in the judges’
decision.”
However, the
book’s “author” Crazy Dog put an entirely different spin on
the award nomination. “I’m totally unsurprised,” said Crazy
Dog. “Those human
judges finally figured out what we dogs and cats have known all
along – that this is a really awesome book.”
